Welcome To Balboa Island's Visitor's Guide

This site includes Balboa Island and parts of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach on the west coast of California. This area is steeped in history and, despite its remote location, has produced or attracted a rich array of famous people and fascinating characters. Use the navigation on the left to find out more about Balboa Island's attractions, activities, and accommodations.

Balboa has several festivals and events throughout the season and 2012 is no exception. Hotels and pubs provide music and entertainment in high season and at weekends. This list shows some of the events taking place this summer; more will be added as they are announced and full details will be published as soon as they become available. It is advisable to check local papers and tourist offices to ensure you don't miss any of the local events!

Come join the 19th Annual Balboa Island Parade on Sunday June 3rd.The Parade Committee urges Island residents to participate and join the fun. Use your imagination, be creative and have a ball. Individual, Group, Block, or Street entries are encouraged to participate. Children are what parades are all about, so encourage them to participate too.

This year's event will feature over 90 artists exhibiting original oil paintings, acrylics, watercolors, glass, ceramic, sculpture, jewelry and photography along the South Bayfront of Balboa Island.

The Balboa Island Artwalk is the premier showcase for talented local artists and marks the start of the Island's summer season. Celebrating its sixteenth anniversary, the Artwalk will take place on Sunday, May 20th, from 9am to 5pm along the South Bayfront Promenade of Balboa Island. Admission is free.

The Annual Balboa Island Parade has been a twenty year tradition. An Island tradition filled with Children on Bikes, Island Dogs, Decorated Golf Carts and Floats, Vintage Cars, Keystone Cops, Drill Teams, Marching Bands, Local Dignitaries and much more! It’s the Island Way of Welcoming Summer to ALL ! So come on down to Marine Avenue and join us for a special day with Family, Friends, and Fun Our bridge closes at 10:00 am , so get here early
